It was the only feasible place outside of the truck to mount it, but I am reconsidering. I agree that it would not help in an accident, although Im not sure its more dangerous per se... but I have to counter all of that with the thought that a series rover isn't going to do anyone any favors in a wreck. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In terms of off road performance, I think that will be an issue... maybe the short term solution is to throw it in the bed before hitting the trail and just use the bumper to carry it. I see a lot of other series rovers with them mounted there, so maybe they know something I dont. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That is a terrible place for a hi lift jack. It reduces your approach angle, and your first trip off road will likely damage the jack, mounts, and bumper.
